Hummus or Hommous comes from the Arabic word meaning "chickpeas". It’s one of the most famous appetizers in Syria and the Arab world, plus, it’s the most popular food among tourists from all over the world. It’s a Levantine dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini / tahina (sesame paste), olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Since the main ingredient of this food is the chickpeas, it’s considered as a whole meal; it has great amounts of fiber, and other nutrients.
